Whitney Health for health systems
The only enterprise platform to deliver functional brain health service lines
Functional brain health assessment, diagnosis, and longitudinal monitoring delivered at scale.
Whitney Health is Kainoa Labs’ clinical care platform for functional brain health. It gives health systems the infrastructure to deliver comprehensive neuropsychological assessment and continuous care management across primary care, neurology, and psychiatry — without adding specialist headcount.
The problem
Brain disorders are costly, common, and difficult to diagnose accurately.
Most patients with brain health complaints are first seen by primary care physicians who lack the instruments to evaluate them beyond a brief cognitive screen. Brief screens are fast — and inaccurate. Among patients ultimately misdiagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, rates of potentially inappropriate medication reach as high as 67%. Across the Medicare population, the downstream cost of diagnostic inaccuracy is estimated at $150 billion annually.
Brief screens are not the answer.
Accurate functional brain health evaluation has historically required referral to a specialist, long wait times, four to eight hours of structured assessment, and delayed turnaround times. Getting referred to the right specialist — or any specialist — can be a challenge. Whitney Health’s MCI Service Line (mild cognitive impairment) was built to scale actionable specialty care.
What Whitney Health delivers
Our Approach
Whitney Health moves specialty-level neuropsychological evaluation into primary care and other care settings across your enterprise. The platform connects providers, specialists, neuropsychologists, patients, and care teams through integrated clinical workflows — handling assessment assignment, session delivery, automated scoring, clinical reporting, and longitudinal monitoring in a single system.
Sessions are conducted in-office or via telehealth. A trained technician — yours or ours — supervises every session. A neuropsychologist — yours or ours — reviews the data and writes the clinical report. The ordering physician receives a complete neuropsychologist-authored report in their Whitney Health dashboard and EHR within 48 hours.
The referring physician’s role is to refer.
Log in. Enter the patient’s name and email. Select a service line. Done. Whitney Health handles consent, intake, scheduling, supervision, scoring, annotation, neuropsychological review, and report delivery.
A single system for assessment, reporting, and longitudinal monitoring.
Whitney Health connects providers, specialists, neuropsychologists, patients, and care teams through integrated clinical workflows. The platform handles assessment assignment, remote and in-office session delivery, automated scoring, clinical reporting, and longitudinal monitoring in a single system that delivers results to your existing EHR infrastructure via standard HL7/SMART on FHIR protocols.
For clinicians
Assign assessments, deliver evaluations via telehealth or in-office, review multi-disciplinary diagnostic data, and generate clinical reports. Every patient session is securely recorded, encrypted, and processed to produce a permanent, auditable clinical record.
For patients
A validated, telehealth or in-office mobile assessment experience that can be completed on a mobile phone or tablet.
For health system operations
Structured, longitudinal data that supports standard fee-for-service reimbursement pathways, HCC risk adjustment coding, payer negotiation, and population health management.
Enterprise impact
Designed to expand capacity, improve accuracy, and create defensible clinical data.
Expand specialist capacity without expanding headcount.
Whitney Health delivers specialist-level diagnostic accuracy through an automated platform. Health systems can extend comprehensive brain health services across primary care and specialty settings without proportional increases in staffing.
Improve diagnostic accuracy where the stakes are highest.
Accurate differential diagnosis at the MCI stage reduces downstream costs from misdiagnosis, inappropriate medication, and delayed or incorrect care planning. It also positions health systems to deploy anti-amyloid therapies safely and defensibly.
Generate the data required to negotiate with payers.
Every Whitney Health session produces structured, longitudinal efficacy data — the kind of objective clinical record that supports HCC risk-adjustment coding and gives leadership a defensible evidence base for payer and PBM negotiations.
Turn an underserved population into a managed one.
Older adults drive disproportionate health system costs and have historically been difficult to serve efficiently in brain health. Whitney Health turns this population from a diffuse financial liability into a scalable, manageable service line.
Reduce documentation burden across the care team.
Automated session recording, processing, and report generation reduces the administrative hours clinicians spend on documentation — freeing neuropsychologists and specialists to work at the top of their license.
Our first service line
Mild cognitive impairment
The burden of mild cognitive impairment is substantial and largely unaddressed. Of the millions of Medicare beneficiaries estimated to have MCI, fewer than 8% have been diagnosed. Most who are diagnosed never receive a differential precise enough to guide treatment.
This matters now more than ever. The arrival of FDA-approved anti-amyloid therapies — lecanemab, donanemab — has raised the clinical and financial stakes of diagnostic accuracy considerably. These therapies carry significant risk if prescribed to the wrong patient population. Health systems that cannot distinguish amnestic MCI from non-amnestic MCI from late-life depression — three conditions that present similarly but diverge sharply in treatment — face real clinical, financial, and reputational exposure.
Whitney Health delivers a comprehensive differential assessment within a single session.
Within one self-administered assessment, Whitney Health automatically differentiates amnestic MCI, non-amnestic MCI, and late-life depression. Once a care plan is in place, the platform provides the longitudinal monitoring infrastructure to track whether a therapeutic intervention is working, whether the diagnosis holds, and how the condition is progressing over time.
Whitney Health holds FDA Breakthrough Device designation for this indication and has been validated in collaboration with university and CRO research partners, demonstrating high sensitivity and specificity across clinical cohorts.
